Congratulations To The North Stars Volleyball Team!!!

This is what can happen when you have determination and perseverance.  A team of volleyball players from Dawson City in the Yukon had to raise $25,000 to cover a trip to the nationals and play in the tournament.   Raising money in a small town is no easy task, however these awesome girls were determined to do it.  They held bake sales, pancake breakfasts, sold popcorn, and just about anything else they could think of.  They even managed to get some local companies to sponsor them.   In the end, they managed to raise the money they needed and are currently in Toronto competing! Good luck girls and good like to The North Stars!!!

In Toronto? Check out Mary's Brigadeiro!

If you're in the Toronto area, check out Mary's Brigadeiro.   Owner Mary Oliveira has brought a traditional Brazilian confection to Canada and people are loving it.    The Brazilian treat is made from condensed milk, butter, and cocoa powder.  The condensed milk is brought to a bubble, then butter and cocoa is added.  The mixture is simmered until it thickens and then poured out to be cooled for 24 hours.  Once ready it's formed into balls and topped with a variety of toppings. Check out her website for more details! Her store is located at: 1912 Danforth Ave, Toronto
