Fighting Back Against The Green Crab!

A fishing couple from the Burin Peninsula in Newfoundland is taking matters into their own hands and fighting back against the Green Crab. Tonia Grandy says the green crab has become a real problem for them.  She says the green crab is a very invasive species.   Up until recently they've just been destroying the crab they catch, however she found a better solution.  After finding a cookbook called "The Green Crab Cookbook" online she realized that if she can't beat the crab, then she's going to eat them. Now her focus will be finding ways to cook up this crab instead of just destroying them. Who knows.. Maybe a restaurant is in their future!

Curried Seal Flipper?!? - A Newfoundland Twist with a Curry Kick

Now this is a unique food combination!  The Indian Express out of St. John's, Newfoundland has taken a traditional Newfoundland dish and combined it with his signature curry style.    They call it Seal Curry and so far the people are liking it.  If you've never tried seal meat before it has a very unique flavour.  For many people it's an acquired taste.  I have eaten seal many times and do enjoy it from time to time.  I definitely would like to give this a try the next time I'm in St. John's.
